RE: First (annual?) B Out West Social - Is over!

I second that! Thanks so much Julie and everybody else who organized this for all of your hard work. I had to leave today as well...back to work in the morning (That was the worst part...coming home again so soon.) It was great to get to know all of you! Hopefully we'll meet again at the 2nd annual B Out West rally!

RE: First (annual?) B Out West Social - Is over!

It's official. I just booked myself and my dog Liberty a spot. I'm so excited! I'm from Salt Lake, and am a teacher, so I'll arrive Friday evening and head back Sunday. I'm really looking forward to meeting more B enthusiasts, as there don't seem to be many around here!

RE: For Heaven's Sakes, Control Your Dogs!

I really wouldn't want to park next to barking dogs either, not just because it was annoying, but because it would set my dogs off too! Mine barks for the first 3 minutes I'm away, and then is quiet. I know because I've hidden closeby and listened. I remedy this by giving her a kong with peanutbutter in it. This keeps her occupied for the first 5 minutes, during her "barking time." I periodically do the hiding closeby thing just to monitor that nothing has changed.

RE: Sewer hose storage

"If you just try to pull the hose out of the storage, it will resist and suck itself back into the storage from the vacuum in the sealed hose. So you think you will just take the end plate off, which lets all the left over liquid spill out. After you get through emptying the tanks you button everything up and try to push the hose into the storage, but you can't because its like an accordion, trying to compress the air in the hose. So you loosen the little screw cap and push the hose into the storage. And get sprayed by the liquid left in the hose exiting under pressure." lol! I just dumped for the first time last week, and did this exact thing! Boy I'm glad I'm not the only one! My gloves also ripped trying to get that stinking (literally) little cap back on, but now that I know what it is, I'm grateful for that little cap. Does anybody wear rubber boots or shoe covers? When I first unscrewed the little cap, I wasn't expecting anything to be in there, as I hadn't pulled the lever yet. Surprise!

RE: Which state is most dog friendly?

Dogs are welcome in all Utah State Parks, and city parks as well. They do need to be on lead in most of these parks, but there are many dog parks and off-lead areas in and around Salt Lake City.

RE: First (annual?) B Out West Social - Is over!

Ooh...I just remembered that my favorite animal charity, Best Friends Animal Society, is in Utah. These folks did a lot of abandoned animal rescuing after Katrina and took many of Michael Vick's dogs. Maybe we'll stop by for a visit if our route takes us anyplace nearby. It's about a 5 hour drive to or from Moab. This is a fabulous place! You can even park your RV here and volunteer for a week. They'll put you to work walking and feeding animals. It's a truly rewarding experience.

RE: First (annual?) B Out West Social - Is over!

Oh boy, now I REALLY want to come! I'm so glad there will be so many animal lovers there! I volunteer for Small Paws too every now and then. . . not so much anymore. I used to pull them and get them vetted, I just couldn't foster. Now I'm much more involved in animal assisted therapy. Anyway, I'll call and reserve my spot tomorrow! I can't wait to meet you all!

RE: Anyone else luck out on B purchase?

I definitely think I lucked out. I didn't even know they existed until I started looking up VW campervans. When I saw the Roadtrek I "fell in love." The next day I saw one parked on the street on my way home from school, and I pulled off to look in the windows. The owner saw me out there and came out to tell me it was for sale. I got it for way below blue book, and the mechanic who looked at it said that if I didn't get it, he would. So. . . It was meant to be.

RE: First (annual?) B Out West Social - Is over!

Oooh. . .Am I too late? I just got my class B a month ago. I'm actually in Utah, so my standard poodle Liberty and I (and perhaps Cosita, my bichon, depending on her mood) could definitely make it! Is there a waiting list for spots?
